Some call him a new age trailblazer, and considering he wrote his books before the term ‘new age’ was coined, I’d agree. He was very controversial, as he claimed to be a high lama from Tibet who had walked into the body of an English man after his old body had given up due to too much wear and tear.
What he wrote about was very controversial at the time. He spoke of astral travel, spirits, guides, psychic abilities, reading auras and many other such things. Even though he claimed every word he wrote was true, many called him a fraud.
With all I know today, I believe that he was who he said he was. That he knew and experienced what he said he did. What must be remembered is that all he wrote about was from his own personal belief system and perspectives. They were not wrong, they just might not have been everyone else’s beliefs.
In 2005, the lady who lived with him and wrote his books (in a platonic relationship) wrote a book called Twenty-Five Years with T. Lobsang Rampa.
It was a fascinating insight into the man and her part in his life. What became apparent to me was that Rampa was certainly genuine, displaying powers and knowledge from his own experiences and, more importantly, without Sheelagh, we would not have received the benefit of all his wisdom.
She would be too modest, and maybe a little horrified at what I’m about to write, but I sincerely believe she was an angel who was sent to help Rampa. One of the reasons I say this was that Rampa was able to draw on her energies to keep himself from dying. This was not a vampiric relationship. I would have to describe it as her resonating on a very high spiritual level and being able to match his energies. From my understanding, this is not something you will find every day.
Rampa books are very hard to find now, though some of the most famous ones are still in print. (The Third Eye and You, Forever.) However, thanks to certain, dedicated individuals, they are all on line and on audio CD. I was fortunately enough to be the recipient of the CDs and I can highly recommend them. It is read by an electronic voice which is surprisingly listenable. After a while, you stop hearing the voice and just hear the words.
If you want to purchase a set of these CD's, you can find them at:
Another book worth considering is by Karen Mutton who wrote a book called T. Lobsang Rampa- New Age Trailblazer. This is an excellent read and well worth a look.
