It's an interesting thing I've observed about alternative medicines versus conventional medicines.
Many people give alternative medicine a one shot deal. They will try it, but if it doesn't do what it promises to do for them right away, the entire field is dismissed as charlatans and quackery.
Curiously enough, doctors can endlessly misdiagnose, screw up, mis-prescribe, cost us money, etc, and people still go back to them not ever really thinking that maybe the doctors really don't know what they're doing.
Alternative medicine is like anything else. It can be hit and miss, but if you find the right remedy, it can make an enormous difference.
If you choose to use it, it's a good idea to work with the healer (assuming they aren't so arrogant as to think they know better than you if you're not getting any benefits) until you find the key to your problems.
Do some research.
Also, doing your own research can go a long way, too. Many doctors and even healers misdiagnose their patient. For example, if you go to the doctor and say you are always feeling tired and sleepy, chances are that he'll tell you you're not getting enough exercise, vitamins or your diet needs to be improved.
He might give you an injection and send you on your way. What he should have done is booked you into for a sleep study and see what the quality of your sleep is like.
Sadly, these things don't happen unless your doctor happens to be somewhat knowledgeable in that field or you know enough to ask for it yourself.
Often we feel that the doctor, having gone to university, should know better then you. They often don't. Neither does a natural healer. You know yourself better than anyone else because you live with your body. If you're being told there's nothing wrong with you, or that you just have to live with your pain, or that you've got something that just doesn't quite fit, do some research. The internet makes this more possible than ever before.
Doctors hate their patients to do their own research. There is valid reason for that, mind you, as the net has lots of wrong information on it and let's face it, site like this one are just the author's ramblings on his own perception of how things really are. (And I encourage you to make up your own minds on the information on this site. Don't take my word for it. It works for me, but who knows if it will for you.)
Conventional medicine and alternative medicines both have their place. Both can be incredibly effective and both can end up with side effects. Whichever one you choose, remember that just because the cure hasn't worked, there isn't one out there that can
