My personal psychic experiences
The telepathy warning.
An interesting thing happened back in 1985. It was year when I was heavily into Citizen Band Radio (CB) and I used to spend most my nights in my car talking to people. CB was the way to talk to people before the net took over. Every so often, I would speak to someone I didn't know, who would pass on some vital information, out of the blue, and then I'd never hear from them again.
One of them was some guy I was talking to who told me that I should read a series of books by a author called Tuesday Lobsang Rampa. Curiously enough, I had all his books in my book case. They had come into my procession by default. My step father's deceased wife had kept on buying them for him, even though he never read them. Now they had somehow ended up in my area and had been there for the past 3 or so years.
When I picked up the book he recommended, I discovered an incredible wealth of esoteric knowledge, which would influence the way I thought about life for the next 10 years or so. Well there were many things that weren't quite right (because of his belief system), the books had the ring of truth to them and were very freeing in their own way.
They also gave detailed instructions on how to develop your powers, such as OBEs, psychometry and astral travel. I never really used the books to develop my own powers, though I did try for a long time to astral travel, without any success.
One of the things that also caught my interest was telepathy. I had always been interested in that and wished to develop it more. So I decided to start and try and develop my abilities.
That night, I was on the CB, talking as usual, when I found myself talking to what sounded like a middle aged lady. There was nothing different or extraordinary about what she was saying. Then, right out of the blue, she said that a friend of hers had become telepathic and went mad!
I never spoke to this lady again, but the message was clear to me. Do not try to develop my telepathy.
It was only years later that I understood why. Being an empath, I was already connected to people on an emotional level, and I was also ungrounded, which was a bad combination. I was already having enough trouble coping with that. Adding telepathy to my abilities would have just made it worse for me.
I guess the problem was that I didn't know anything about what an empath was, or that I was even one and it would be 10 more years before I would know.
